Antique Gossip/telephone Bench

Telephone Bench
or
Gossip Bench. . .

We have come along way baby.

Snap

These old benches are getting some fabulous makeovers!  Since I am loving aqua, this bench is of course - AQUA!

I primed it white first, then painted it aqua.  Distressed it just a little to let the white peek through, then put a gloss poly on it to finish it off.

Love!

The latest, greatest frame adventure! An open frame gallery wall!

I love Frames, all kinds of frames. . .
Old, new, ornate or plain.  Brass, resin, wood or plastic.
A frame is a frame and all frames are delish!

I have used frames for chalkboards and for chicken wire memo boards.

The latest greatest frame adventure is an open frame gallery wall.
with a couple of mirrors and a few other fun things thrown in!

This project was for my daughter Paige.  So, together we pulled out my frames and got to work.  We lay them out and moved them around and kinda went a little nuts.
Literally nuts!
There is not right way, or wrong way.
It is just what you like. . .
Too many choices!

So I searched. Oh, I love what we can find out there today!

Picklee

Not only is there 35 different wall gallery's, there is help on how to!

The painting was the easy part, deciding which frames and how to put them together was not!

Here they are, all dressed up and happy as can be!

To get the frames on the wall, the way they should be, we did the paper thing.  We traced and cut and taped.  It was a great way to make sure it was going to work, and where to place them, before we started putting nails in the wall.

Pottery Barn

One last thing - I am loving these frames from Pottery Barn.  I don't love the price $149.00.

My pink frames $3.50 plus spray paint!

Mirror Mirror on the wall! Vintage Black Mirror

I had a storage Unit full of furniture. I really did.  I had a garage sale and sold everything except what I wanted to keep for me and mine (daughters)

I have mirrors
so many mirrors

My goal is to get them painted and hung.
I will do it!

but I have a crib, some frames, a lamp etc. etc. to get finished too!

#1 mirror done.
and hung!

It is a heavy old thing, and it was ugly.
The glossy black spray paint gives it a rich gorgeous new look!
I love it!

on to mirror #2

How to Spray Paint knobs/pulls

I am working on a Hutch, yet to be revealed.  It needed some updated knobs.  My first instinct is to go find some new ones, but since I hoard collect knobs, I went to my stash and pulled these ones out - Perfect!

They just needed to be a different color.

They were originally $6.99.  On clearance for $1.49 - a steal.

I used these supplies to update these knobs:
Rust-O-leum gray spray primer
Rust-O-leum metallic spray paint

I wiped them off with a baby wipe, turned them upside down and primed them. I let them dry for about 10 minutes (it's hot outside)
then turned them over and primed the tops.

The next step is the same, only I used the metallic spray.  I turned them upside down, sprayed them, let them dry.  I turned them over and sprayed the tops with the metallic spray paint.

The fun part is next!

Putting them on the furniture you have painted and giving it that finishing touch!

These knobs cost $12.00 and the spray paint is about $4.00 a can, but I used about $2.00 worth.  I can spray a whole lot more knobs with what is left.

Tip:  If you are changing the knobs to a light color, such as white or pink, etc. use white spray primer.

Hello Hello Hello! Etsy Shop

I Love to see things get a second life, that's why I do what I do!  I Love modern and old, valuable and ordinary. I love to upscale, reuse and revamp!  I heart Thrift stores! I couldn't buy one more thing, honestly I couldn't.  But, I wanted to!  It all started when I would swing in to check out the furniture.  Then I made the mistake of browsing, and I shouldn't have.  When it was only 75 cents and  $1.00 why wouldn't I buy it?  I shouldn't buy it because, I don't need it, and what would I do with it, but I would think how cute it would be with some paint! I love paint too!

So, I started an Etsy shop  Oops Redone Etsy Shop! I know, real original, but I couldn't think of cute name that wasn't already taken!

Oh My, Etsy is so easy - user friendly!  I started slow and am still learning, but I don't have to feel GUILTY about my love of old things, and giving them a new life!

BEFORE - Ugly

AFTER  - Adorable2 White wall candle sconces

And for your viewing entertainment, here are a few more
Thrift store finds, revamped!

Have a Good Day!  I have Saturday errands and a visit to the Thrift Store, to find more ugly stuff!

Painted Brass Candlesticks: Before and After

Well, it's been a while since I blogged!  I had a Boutique, a birthday,
and Bear scare!
Went on a hike in a primitive area with my hubby, and we were the only ones on the mountain.  A Bear growled to let us know it was there, and Jay said Freeze.  I was frozen for 20 minutes. I know what FEAR is.
But, hey I am blogging, so we made it out alive!

We have had some beautiful fall weather, but the forecast said it would end.  So I spray painted my little heart out, knowing my days were numbered.

Any one else hooked on pinterest?
I decided instead of looking, I would do!

I have a collection of brass candlesticks, and I thought they looked great just as they were!  I was wrong!

My new found love, painted brass candlesticks!
wish I hadn't passed all of the ones I found at the thrift store, now I want them, I can't find them!

White Craft room shelf: Before and After

I took a minute away  from painting while I was getting ready for a
     Young Women in Excellence. program.

I love working with the Young Women Leaders and the girls as much as I like painting!
confession - I like it more than painting  - gasp!

I do have a great before and after!
It may not be my greatest and best, but it is one of my favorites because
it is useful.
It is for my craft room, and it is helping me get organized,
and it is cute, but more important functional!
Before:

It is old, heavy and in GREAT shape.

Love the old knobs!

Lot's of space!

It had a laminate finish, so I used Zinsser Oil based primer.

The hardest part is always prepping the furniture.  Cleaning, fixing dings and dents.  The fun part is painting! Painting is the easy part!

Loved the knobs before - Love them more now! used Krylon Bauhaus gold spray paint.

Ready, set, go!

A place for fabric

A place for a collection of milk white vases!

Why, I had the spray paint out, I sprayed these thrift store finds, what would you call them?  I call them things, for lack of knowing the proper name.

These things are going to be used to hold a shelf!

Happy Monday!

Aqua Table & Chairs: Before & After

My niece Jaclyn is getting Married!
She is cute, trendy and FUN!
In LOVE too!

She Wanted me to paint her a table and chairs, so I did.

The chairs looked like this before:
Pathetic

I sprayed the chairs with Valspar Exotic Sea.
Then I had Lowe's mix me up a quart of paint to match the spray paint - to paint the table!

Yes, they look better!

Cute like Jaclyn!

A little distressing

The table is an adorable vintage drop leaf!

It can be small

Or big!

Ruffed it up just a smidge!

She is thinking this with a little bit of red!
Can you see the vision?
ADORABLE
