Before and After: Orange Chest

I am not doing so well at the taking the Befores.
So imagine a dirty grimy, spider filled old wood chest.
It needed cleaning and sanding and then some more.
most wouldn't see the potential, but just you wait.

The prep work is the worst part.
but it is the most important.
Painting is FUN!

AFTER

Old grimy chest now a treasure chest!

A mistint was used for the paint, so I can't tell you exactly what it was.
After we painted it, we did sand it good and used a  minwax jacobean stain.
We also sprayed the handles with a primer,
then finished them off with Krylon Oil rubbed Bronze spray!
we being me and Jake!

Happy Easter!

On March 23rd 2011, I am in the Atlanta airport getting ready to board a plane for a Mediterranean Cruise  There has been so much unrest in the Middle East and our Egypt excursion had already been canceled. My daughter calls and said they are worried for our safety.  A bomb had exploded at a Jerusalem Bus stop.   Yes, we were a little nervous.

Israeli paramedics and emergency workers rushed to the scene of an explosion outside Jerusalem's central bus station on Wednesday.

While we were in Jerusalem, did we feel safe. .  YES!

My heart was touched when we were at at the wailing wall.  A group of young Jewish boys, had learned their alphabet.  They were having a celebration!

One of them escaped the group and ran to the wall the women and the men are separated where he knew he could find his mom.   He jumped up on the chair and was was yelling for her. He was so excited to show her his certificate. The Moms were all taking pictures of their sons over the wall.  Who does that sound like. . . YOU!

A group of school girls just getting out of school.  They were laughing and singing.

A back pack on this young school boy, working his way through the crowd.

These are the people getting bombed when they get on buses.

Be grateful for your freedom.  We can travel state to state and worship as we please. We can worry about Easter clothes and Easter baskets without the fear of being bombed.

HAPPY EASTER!!!!

Until then, I am slowly but surely working on moving it out.

This Pagholz chair from Germany has been hanging out at my house for way to long.  I was afraid to paint it, well because it was a Pagholz chair from Germany.  It was never going to get used as it was, so I painted it!

mirror mirror on the wall. . .

I Love mirrors!

Especially mirrors that I find at a thrift store for a song.

I can't wait to put a coat of paint on them to dress them up.

like this one, yum yellow

My inspiration came from:

She not only painted the frame
she turned it into a chalkboard

painted her mirror and put it in the bathroom - LOVE!

is selling this aqua  mirror on Etsy

I was already to spray this mirror until. . .
I saw this post on
                                                              One of my favorite blogs

It is the exact same mirror!
minus the dust and sticker
no paint
left all natural
It looks so good

So blogger friends what do you think. . .
To paint or not to paint!

Before and After: Desk & chair

Still recovering from Jet Lag, can't keep my eyes open past 8:00 p.m. and wide awake at 4:00 a.m.

I have been busy getting ready for my favorite Boutique,
Scraps of Simplicity!

It has been a family affair with a couple of my children helping.
never a dull moment with them!

My daughter Erin,

Photobucket

 painted this desk.
she's a sweet heart!

BEFORE

It should have been easy, but we had some bad paint - never happened to me before.   When she would roll the paint on, it had bubbles.  We tried 3 times, before we bought new paint.
