DIY Push Pin Board

I am into very Large Frames and doing fun things with them.

After making a chalkboard out of a Large Frame, I wanted to do something different.

It is a push pin board!

I had bought some Chevron Fabric from my daughter Erin, and thought I better put it to use before it is out of style!

The Chevron Fabric is the perfect blue and the white is more of a linen white, so I painted the frame with a paint called Rice Cake by Color Place found at Walmart. (Erin's sister-in-law Michele told me about this color along time ago)  It was perfect for this project.

I used foam board bought at Hobby Lobby with a 40% coupon and Scotch adhesive found at Walmart.

It is very large and in charge - It is a show stopper!

I googled images of push pin boards and this was my favorite - I know I am a copier!

These old benches are getting some fabulous makeovers!  Since I am loving aqua, this bench is of course - AQUA!

I primed it white first, then painted it aqua.  Distressed it just a little to let the white peek through, then put a gloss poly on it to finish it off.

I had a Pier One bench that really needed an update.

I took it apart and spray painted the frame and legs with Valspar glossy white.

The fabric is from Jo-Ann's

An orange pillow added for today anyway.

I wasn't sure I was going to like this bench until I added more DIY projects - subway art,  a chalkboard and a spray painted ampersand.

Upholstering this bench was easy!  It takes A LOT of staples and some muscels.

To finish it off nice, I stapled felt to the bottom. more staples!

This is a quote by Mother Teresa and was always one of my favorites.  So when I saw this tutorial here: I am Momma - Hear me Roar, I knew I had to make it!  So, I did!

Turquoise Hutch

A Hutch

A turquoise hutch that was maroon, then black, now Turquoise.

I wanted something to display all my junk treasures, but was functional as well.

This is the 3rd turquoise Hutch I have painted -  I love the color.

You think I wouldn't be shocked by how bright the paint is.  Then I put the glaze on and whew it tones it down, I can take my sunglasses off!

I am never sure I am going to like it and then. . .

I start filling up the shelves with my stuff.

I not only love milk white glass, but vintage pitchers and ice cream/fruit bowls, and I almost forgot cake holders. 

I am wondering if this Hutch will be another color in a couple of years? 

My helper, as much as I love painting, I love these little people more.  He gets all the umbrellas and twirls and then lines them up. adorable!

I swear they don't need toys. even though He just had a birthday, and squealed with joy at the presents.

I am sure I will tweak the arrangement of stuff, and maybe even move it to another wall, but for now I am happy it is done.

Would you dare put this color in your house? The color is brighter than in real life - excuse my photo skills.

White desk with stained top: Before and After

So. . . .

I am not a photographer, and I need to be!

I love blogs who have beautiful pictures.

mine are not.

I also find it fun to see how baaad the before pictures are!

For example, this desk.

The before picture is really bad.

But the desk was really bad.

The desk is solid wood, but it had been worn by the weather.

The top of the desk had no stain or varnish left.  I always wanted to do a two tone piece of furniture, but never wanted to do the work of stripping the top.  Well, here you go, it was done for me by the weather!

I love the detail and character this desk had!

Sadly, it was missing a drawer pull. So I moved them around and added a new one.  I had to fill a few holes and drill a new one, but it worked O.K.!

This desk is for my college student son, and at first I was going to paint it black.  I wanted it to be masculine, and I also wanted to stain the top.  So I painted it white, used a black glaze, and sprayed the hardware bronze.

I love love the old hardware!

It is fun to try new things!  I think the two tone gives it a rich look, and it is a little more masculine for a cute boy!

I snapped this silly, awesome, fun picture when Jake was washing the cabin windows, in the early morning.  I said, "Flex" and he did, I hope the desk isn't to girly????

Aqua Love! Before and After (and a little bit of black)

Oh my, I love old furniture and paint. 

 When I saw this headboard, I knew it would be gorgeous in Aqua!

I also had a dresser and nightstand that I knew would look great painted Aqua to match.

The only before picture I had, but oh so cute!

My daughter, Morgan posted a picture on Insta-gram of the dresser and nightstand with these white knobs and glass knobs. She asked which knobs were peoples favorite.  The glass knobs won, now I have to wait for them to go on sale at Hobby Lobby.

Every third week the knobs are 50% off!

Yay, I am Happy!

The other dresser has been black for a while now

Once in a while I join in and participate in Boutiques.

It is a lot of work to mark your goods, and THEN you haul it all there. WHEW!

Displaying your things are always a challenge!

So, I have been on the look out for a shelf that wasn't to big or to heavy.

I found it!

I can carry this by myself, that is how light it is.

Oh, the power of paint!  Any thing can look good with a little bit of paint - this is why I am addicted!

Most of the Boutiques are in the Fall, so this little shelf will happily sit here until then.
