Armoire shopping

With the introduction of Big Screen T.V.s, the Armoire entertainment centers are being dumped.  We need extra storage at our house and a painted armoire is perfect!

I have been checking KSL classifieds ~ like Craig's list~ and I thought I would share a few of the many I found.  There all sizes, styles, colors, whew overwhelming!  Click on armoire under each of them, it will take you to the ad on KSL.

$150.00        I love the clean lines on this one, and the legs.

Questions answered and a readers project!

I receive a lot of emails with questions about paint colors I use, technique, and other random things!
First of all, I Love the emails and questions, so don't hesitate to ask!
If I haven't answered you, ask again.
I have been cruising.

I have received a lot of inquires about this Old Iron Bed paint color.

It is a new paint by Rust -0leum, Eden.
It is hard to find because it is flying off the shelves.
I found it at Home Depot

I always finish a spray painted project with a polyurethane!
It protects it and makes it more durable.

Minwax Co Inc 33060000 Polyurethane Spray - Satin

I am also curious as to who is asking these questions, what they are working on.
So I asked a reader of this little ole blog and April replied:

Here is my last project. The roll top desk I grew up with since I was
a little girl. My dad about killed me when I painted over the oak. I
                                                      love how it turned out.
Krylon Bahama Sea with Ralph Lauren glaze.

This is a picture from Christmas time- hence the decor-

We re-vamped the living room as well with restoring the wood floors
and doing the board and batten or whatever you call it around the
room- so fun. Really ties the room together.

Thanks April, It's darling!
I love how she says her Dad about killed her when she painted over the oak!
Haven't we all had that response from someone!

Have a Good Day!

Tasty Tuesday: Jello Cake

Jello cake is a family favorite and one of our "go to" desserts. I have yet to meet someone who has tried this and didn't like it. It's light and fluffy and perfect for anytime of the year and with any kind of meal.

Give it a try and let us know how you like it!

1 white cake mix, baked according to pkg directions
1 large box raspberry or strawberry Jello
1 C boiling water
1 C cold water
1 8 oz tub of Cool Whip

Let cake cool completely. Poke holes in cake with a large fork, or end of a spoon.

In a medium bowl, dissolve jello in hot water. Add cool water and stir well. Pour evenly over top of cake making sure to fill all holes.

Refrigertate for 2 hours. Top with cool whip!

Before and After: Old Iron Twin Bed

I've said it before and I'm sure I will say it again but...

THIS one has got to be my favorite pieces. Well, at least today it is.

BEFORE: A little beat up and bruised and in need of a little TLC.

AFTER: Voila...Like new!

You would never know this is a iron bed, huh? Looks like it's wood but nope, it's iron. Isn't it so cool? It's nice and heavy and sturdy! For sure a precious find.

Obviously it needed a little love so I sanded it a little,
primed it with Valspar gray spay primer, and to finish it off
I sprayed it with a new color from  Rust-oleum called

Before and After: Turquoise Hutch

Before: sorry about the poor picture quality.
This beauty was in Perfect shape, no repair-except when I took the doors off, I had to fill the holes and sand them-Easy peasy.

Before I could start I had to convince the Grand kids it wasn't a toy!  I let them think it was for a while, they were having so much fun!

AFTER:
This one is for my craft room.

I'm kind of like a car mechanic. You know, his car is the last to be repaired because he is working on every one else's?  That's me, it took me for ever to finish this because I was doing everyone else's!

Oh I can't wait to put all my organized ribbon and fabric and yarn, scissors and paper in here. I might need 3 more of these to fit all my stuff!

Love, Love, Love and she's all mine!

The chair is ready too. The room is going to be getting an overhaul - new paint etc -
Whew, I'm tired just thinking about it, and extremely anxious and excited!!!! It's been a long time coming.

There she is in all her glory, missing it's glass shelves.
