Translation - How Beautiful!

I Love all things FRENCH!

Lake Geneva

Jake served a mission in Geneva Switzerland, and lived in Switzerland and France for 2 years!

We went back to visit the people he had met and see the sites.
We were in Europe for 14 days with him. We would have been lost with out him as our tour guide!
He maneuvered us around the cities and especially the metro!
The best part was hearing him speak French!

The language of Love.

We saw a lot of beautiful things and I became enamored with all things French.

And the French were enamored with Jake, the French Girls, that is!

The people, the style, the fashion, the beautiful stone buildings, the small one way paved streets, carousels in every city center, and especially the decorating!

This was my favorite Bed & Breakfast we stayed in.

Wouldn't this be a great guest room!

I would love to recreate it, and use this furniture.

With a new coat of white paint, of course!

I love the detail and the beautiful legs!

Beautiful lines and detail

SOLD

How beautiful it would be with,

Crisp white linens

wall paper that is red

flowy curtains!

Merci!

Four Poster bed!

This bed was a special order for cute Addie!
Her Mom had another baby girl and they needed a big girl bed!
I love the four posters!

Not very often do I see the furniture I paint in peoples homes!
Addie's Mom took a picture for me and I thought I would share with you.

I love the quilt and pillows!

Addie is a lucky little girl!

Thanks Bobbi for the pictures!
I bought a dresser & a hutch from Bobbi to paint!
It was hers from when she was a little girl.
I told her she would be sorry she sold it, when she saw how cute it was going to be!
p.s. Bobbi doesn't look like she had a baby!

Before & After - So many possibilities!

Remember this laminate dresser, made by Broyhill . . .
It has a hutch!

It's done!

I used my favorite paint,
Ralph Lauren!
One coat and the job is done!
But first I used Oil based primer to adhere to the laminate. . .
It works!

Poly to protect it, always!

I primed with a white instead of the grey,

I wanted to distress it and let a little white show through.
It does, and it looks exactly how I thought it would.

I think it would be great in a bathroom
A place for extra towels,
Some drawers for all the things, we girls need!
this is a three drawer dresser, the second drawer is double,
room for blow dryers, curling irons, straightener etc.

Maybe a kitchen. . .
cook books, I never know where to put them
thrift store treasures, like the pitchers I found for $1.50 each

Drawers for place mats

Or maybe a little girls room!
Oh I think this would be my favorite.

Mirror

I was running errands!
You know the never ending jobs we have to do,
The bank
The post office
The gas station
The store
etc. . .
I was in a hurry, but decided to stop at a thrift store I had visited only once, and was not to impressed.
Oh I am so happy I did!
I found this mirror and it is big, old & heavy!
$30.00!!!
I can envision it in so many colors and in so many places!
I still am not sure the best way to take a picture of a mirror. . .
So I took it in my bathroom, so something other than me, would be in it!

Warning!

When looking for furniture to paint, I look for solid wood pieces, that are in great shape.

I try to stay away from laminate pieces but

once in a while, I break my own rules!

I found this Broyhill dresser at the local DI, and saw potential.

I know now, that oil base primer works like a charm on laminate!

This dresser also has a hutch!

I am all about functional these days!

Some hidden storage in the drawers, and then some fun shelves!

You can see the top coming up on the dresser, and it's an easy fix with Gorilla Glue!
Gorilla glue works so great!

It will glue anything!

Including my lips!

The cap is small, and I didn't want to loose it,

So I put it between my lips.

Whoops, there was some glue on it, and like I said, it will glue anything!

Knobs!

Did you know TJ maxx has knobs . . . cuter than any I have seen!

These 6 were $9.99!
I happened on them, when I was looking for something new & fun for my bathroom.
They are by the shower curtain hooks!

Wow, another reason I love TJ maxx

They have all shapes and colors,

White, Cream, Orange, but my favorite are these turquoise ones!

Now, I am excited to get painting, so I can use my new knobs!

No Honey, it's just for looks!

I have a thing for these chairs!
They call my name as I pass by.
I use restraint and turn my head the other way!
It was the color that got me on this one.
I will be putting a fresh new fun fabric on it,
so it tricked me!
This lovely lady is pretty from behind too!

This is my first chair that I bought.
I was terrified to reupholster it, but I did it!
My arm was tired from all the staple pulling, but other than that, it was surprisingly easy.

I didn't spent a lot of money on fabric, just in case it ended up in the dumpster!

It is amazing what flaws can be hidden with some trim,
and the trim gave it a more finished look.

The funniest thing about this chair . . .
My daughter Erin asking if it is safe to sit in, as she tentatively lowers herself onto it.
No honey, it's just for looks!

- both chairs are available for purchase - SOLD

Turquoise bed & dresser $150 for both SOLD

Twin headboard
foot board
& rails

3 drawer dresser

dresser measures

30 inches wide

30 inches tall

18 inches deep

I have been painting furniture like crazy, because I LOVE it!

I would like to keep it all, but I can't!
I wish I could!

I have been taking it to a few places and they are selling it for me.
It has been great but . . .
They charge an arm & a leg!
To you the customer!

So I thought I would do a furniture blog and sell it this way!
If there is no middle man, it is a lot more affordable for you!
Hey, if it doesn't work, I will go back to the stores,
and charge you an arm & a leg!
