White desk with stained top: Before and After

So. . . .
I am not a photographer, and I need to be!
I love blogs who have beautiful pictures.
mine are not.

I also find it fun to see how baaad the before pictures are!

For example, this desk.
The before picture is really bad.

But the desk was really bad.

The desk is solid wood, but it had been worn by the weather.

The top of the desk had no stain or varnish left.  I always wanted to do a two tone piece of furniture, but never wanted to do the work of stripping the top.  Well, here you go, it was done for me by the weather!

I love the detail and character this desk had!

Sadly, it was missing a drawer pull. So I moved them around and added a new one.  I had to fill a few holes and drill a new one, but it worked O.K.!

This desk is for my college student son, and at first I was going to paint it black.  I wanted it to be masculine, and I also wanted to stain the top.  So I painted it white, used a black glaze, and sprayed the hardware bronze.

I love love the old hardware!

Simple knob added

purty from the side too.

It is fun to try new things!  I think the two tone gives it a rich look, and it is a little more masculine for a cute boy!

I snapped this silly, awesome, fun picture when Jake was washing the cabin windows, in the early morning.  I said, "Flex" and he did, I hope the desk isn't to girly????

Aqua Love! Before and After (and a little bit of black)

Oh my, I love old furniture and paint.
When I saw this headboard, I knew it would be gorgeous in Aqua!

I also had a dresser and nightstand that I knew would look great painted Aqua to match.

The only before picture I had, but oh so cute!
Gorgeous!

My daughter, Morgan posted a picture on Insta-gram of the dresser and nightstand with these white knobs and glass knobs. She asked which knobs were peoples favorite.  The glass knobs won, now I have to wait for them to go on sale at Hobby Lobby.
Every third week the knobs are 50% off!

Yay, I am Happy!

The other dresser has been black for a while now

Go find that furniture and get painting!
It's addicting!

White Chiffarobe (armoire/wardrobe) Before and After

Love- a profound intense affection for someone or something.
That is how I describe my feelings for this chiffarobe!

I Love it!

It is a beautiful piece of Thomasville furniture.
I love everything about it.  If it had been in better shape, I may not have painted it.  It had tons of dings and very flaky dry wood.

Turquoise Armoire: Before and After

Let me introduce you to the Beast!
It was so heavy and in such BAD shape.
It did not have a back, it was  warped in many places and needed A LOT of work.

I sanded and repaired and started painting before I took a picture.
This is what you get for the Before:

I was ready to go buy something for the back. As I was pulling out of the driveway I saw this picture sitting by the garbage can.  I had taken it out of a frame, and used the frame to make a chicken wire memo board.  It was perfect for what I needed! Can you see the yellow on the side?  The original owners wanted it yellow.  They found another armoire they liked better and that one I painted  yellow.  It was so stinkin cute with stripes and black knobs.  You will have to take my word on that one - I DID NOT TAKE A PICTURE!

I sanded the picture, then primed it. I then painted it white, then taped it off and painted stripes!
loving stripes!

If you can't tell what this picture is, it the back being painted in stripes. My first attempt and it was easy peasy!

I took several breaks and drank my diet Pepsi, to give me strength to continue!

We hauled it in the house, and stared at if for months before it found a new home. It was so much work and I liked it so much, it needed the perfect home.

It is missing the doors and knobs.  The owners wanted to put the doors on backwards, so they could leave them open and have the cute part of the door show.  You will see why in a minute! They also put their own knobs on.!

Well, it was place in the perfect home with the sweetest owners!

For the locals, It is in the Ogden Newgate mall.
located by Sears.

Please go visit the store - Tell them Hi and kiss the Beast for me!
It is so cute. . . . the store and the Armoire!

Sneak Peak of a Chifforobe

What is a Chifforobe?
A chifforobe is a closet-like piece of furniture that combines a long space for hanging clothes.
(that is, a wardrobe or armoire) with a chest of drawers.

One of my all time favorite books and movies, is The Help.
A Chifforobe is mentioned frequently in this book.

All I know, that I jumped for Joy when I found this Chifforobe at the D.I.!

I am on a break from painting furniture, kinda!
BUT. . .
Tell me you would have passed this beautiful Chifforobe by?

Nope, I don't think so!

It has a few imperfections and the wood is flaking, but
we can fix that.

This is my inspiration
